Guess the Find!

Just had a major find at Goodwill! It is a wish list item checked off, any guesses on what it is! I am about to leave to go out of town, I will definitely tell you all about it when I get back on Sunday!

Thank You!

Hey guys!  Just wanted to pop in to let you know that I was featured by Ann at Stylish Once Again on her linky party, Restyled Sundays!  Yay!  Ann has a great blog that you should totally check out, and participate in the party, too, it is really a lot of fun!

Well, I just went for a 4.5 mile run and I am having some pretty low motivation to get my butt into the shower and off to work.  Since I am starting writing on my thesis, and my office mate is gone, my motivation has been little.  Wish me luck!

Places on Facebook You Should LOVE (Or "Like")

I am amazed that facebook has yet to come up with a "Love" button.  Or a dislike button for that matter, but hey that's not what this post is about, this is all about LOVING things on facebook!  First and foremost, I will say that this is not a post to advertise my facebook page, because I don't have one.  I really only have limited time to blog (as some of you may have noticed...) so adding facebook onto my private facebook really isn't an option right now.  However, I have really enjoyed "Liking" other bloggers and businesses facebook pages, and I would like to tell you about some of my favorites:

We will start with some general pages that I Like on facebook, then we will move on to some specific pages that you can check out for yourself!

#1: Local thrift store pages!  If they have an active page it can be a lot of fun to see what new items they get in or what kind of sales they are having!  Sometimes they may even have surprise sales that you may only find out about through their facebook page!  It is such a great way to keep connected with your favorite shops.

Here are a couple pictures posted on one of my favorite thrift store facebook pages.  I assume many of you are not in Tucson, so I will go ahead and count on the fact that you won't steal one of my favorite thrift haunts: 1st Rate, 2nd Hand

This is where I got all my favorite Reader's Digest books that I showed off in this post they had so many and I bought out a lot of them!  Aren't they gorgeous?!

This is a new post on their page that shows off their bead selection!  How cool!  Here in Tucson we are big into beads and gems because of the HUGE Gem Show that comes through every February.

#2: Your favorite eateries!  We all enjoy saving money, and I am sure we all enjoy feeding ourselves!  Sometimes you can get deals on the facebook page of local restaurants.  Or if you "Check In" they might give you a discount!

One of my most favorite new restaurants in Tucson, May's Counter Chicken and Waffles added this picture of their delicious Cinco de Mayo special: Waffle Tacos!  I was out of town unfortunately and didn't get to try them...

#3: Estate Sale Pages!  Yes, this falls along the same lines as the thrift store page, but this is where you can often get that preview of items before actually getting to the sale.  That way you can go, have a game plan, and stick to it as best you can!  Here is my favorite, The Girls Estate Sales.  They even put teaser photos up sometimes like this one:

#4: Online businesses.  Especially those larger businesses that do giveaways at blogs.  Often they will post each blog and other site that is doing a giveaway of their stuff, so you can enter every chance you get!  Often you will find yourself "Liking" these pages because of blogs that you frequent having a giveaway.  You know, "+1 entry if you like _________________'s Facebook page!"  Yeah, that has suckered me in too and although I have never won any of these big giveaways, it has turned me onto some wonderful businesses that I would have never heard about otherwise, like Saffron Marigold and their beautifully printed textiles!

#5: Your favorite bloggers!  This is a great way to keep updated with all of your bloggy friends that does not involve sifting through tons of other blog posts.  You can communicate with them, keep up with giveaways, sales, and all other kinds of news!  We will talk about some of my favorite blog friends to visit on facebook in a bit!

Onto the specific pages I LOVE!

In no particular order...

The Thrifty Picker- Rachael is such a great bloggy friend and I love her Facebook page as well!  She shares some of her great finds and encourages her readers to share their finds as well!  I love to post my finds on here, and it usually encourages me to stop being lazy and write a blog post about it!  Be sure to check out Rachael's page and give her a Like!

Thrift Core- Another one of my favorite blogs!  Vanessa is so hilarious and really knows how to find smokin' deals on some great things!  She also has daily deals where she offers some really fine deals on some great vintage items!  It is first come first serve, so you better be quick on your toes!  This was her latest deal on a supery-dee-duper cool mod lamp for only $12!

Cutting Edge Stencils- This is a way cool company that has amazingly beautiful stencils that you can do... pretty much ANYTHING with! (Walls, furniture, fabric for pillows etc., rugs, curtains)  They always post great inspiration that are often blogger projects.  They also post about all the giveaways for their goodies going on in the blogosphere so you have every opportunity to win!  Check out how beautiful their stencils can make your home:

So I will leave you with those tips!  Hope you have enjoyed a little different post from me to open your eyes to the world of facebook.  No, it isn't just for looking at how bad other people look in pictures to make yourself feel better (I do that, too...) but it is actually functional!

What about you, do you have any favorite Facebook pages?  Tell me about them!

Pyrex Madness!

I know that I post a lot about Pyrex on here, and this is another one of those posts, sorry!  Since I have been limiting myself to what I am buying, I think I am going to stick to Pyrex to resell on ebay.  It isn't overwhelming, I know what to look for, or I can easily find the prices/values of different pieces.  Plus they are so beautiful, I hate passing them by!  Take a look at my pretty little haul from this weekend:

Well, included in this are a couple other Pyrex pieces I have picked up recently, but most everything is from this weekend.  Yes, that suitcase is also new!  It went half off this week and I was able to get it for $5.  I have decided that I will use these are a couple other suitcases in my future creative space in the new house to hold all my craft supplies!  I figure that they are awesome looking, why not by useful?!

So on to the Pyrex.  As I mentioned in my mobile update I picked up the largest refrigerator dish from the primary set, the yellow one!  It has the old style lid and is really in beautiful condition!

I had certain dishes I was eyeballing at the Estate Sale shop because someone was unloading their collection.  I know that I have to hold back and not just get everything, so I had to leave a few like some Pink Daisy Casserole & Divided Dish, Dandelion Duet Divided Dish, another Lace Medallion Large Casserole, and 2 aqua mixing bowls.  Oh that was hard...  But I did get my hands on this:

Yes, it isn't your computer screen, that there is some ORANGE BUTTERPRINT!  How did I go from never ever seeing Butterprint to all of the sudden finding it in such a rare color!  I put this baby on ebay and it sold within minutes to someone local, so I don't even have to ship.  Glorious.

This dish had been hanging out at the shop for a while and was half off, so I couldn't just leave it there! It was in such nice shape, hopefully someone out there wants this uncommon pattern.  It is known as Golden Wreath according to PyreXfiles.  What do you think?  Color is a little mustardy, but it is festive looking.

This Blue Scrolls bowl was a a definite *NEED TO BUY* with the orange butterprint.  These sell for quite a bit on ebay, and they are absolutely beautiful.  Hopefully someone picks this one up on ebay from me, maybe it will be you?

Also on my Saturday list was the annual "Weird Plant Sale" at the Tucson Botanical Gardens.  I love plant sales.  There, I said it!  I really love cactus and succulents so when I heard that one of my favorite sales was this weekend, I knew I had to go!  Conveniently, the estate sale I went to started at 7am, the plant sale started at 8am, and the estate sale shop opened at 9am.  So I was up early and very busy, but I loved it!  Here are some pictures from the plant sale, I ended up picking up two new cacti for my garden (not pictured).

Lots of great plants and funky pottery, plus I got to peruse some of the gardens for free!  What a beautiful morning!

Finally, I got to do my toes with a little neon pink, you like?

I hope to be posting more from now on, my last final (EVER) is tomorrow!  I will be traveling between Phoenix and Tucson a lot this summer because I will have a part time job in Phoenix, so exciting!  Hopefully I can hit some of the awesome thrifts and second hand furniture stores up there to decorate my new home!  Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful start to your week!

Saturday Sale Lineup

Hey all! Just finished up at my first sale, the vintage suitcase I was after was too expensive so I popped into the kitchen and found this yellow primary fridgie!

But it was also priced with two price tags...

So I got it for 6!

Next stop will be one of my favorite plant sales at the botanical gardens (free entry into the gardens because of the sale!) then the estate sale shop (already have my number 10 spot in line) where they have lots of Pyrex this week! I will update you tomorrow!

*Btw- I'm on mobile blogger so sorry for the poor layout but I can't move the pictures around! (well if I can and just don't know how and you know how, please enlighten me!)

Slowing Down...

Hey everyone!  So as of late, I have had a much harder time keeping up with shipping out orders for my Etsy shop.  I have made the decision to shut it down, as we are moving soon and having a garage sale where I will try and sell of the vintage wares I have picked up here and there.  I will also post some pictures here if any of you are interested in buying anything.  I have some Pyrex still and some other cool goodies that I would be willing to let go for some good deals!  I will post a big update after the garage sale of what I have left.
I will of course, NOT stop thrifting or Estate sale-ing, but I will be buying more items that are personal to me!  That is why some of my good friends' blogs are such inspiration for me!  Many of you are so stylish and have a knack for decorating, it really helps me be able to spot "the good stuff" that I can use in my own home!

Well, aside from that news, I went to the estate sale shop this weekend when I spotted some Pyrex, but I wasn't a huge fan of their selection when I got there.  They didn't have much else I wanted either, but they did have this, which really made me laugh:

It is a board game!!!  Isn't it hilarious?!  If the picture is too small this is what it reads "PUBLIC ASSISTANCE  Why Bother Working For A Living?"  Wow!  and the illustrations on the front are just priceless.  My boyfriend wanted me to go back and buy it, I may wait it out until it goes 50% off in a couple weeks, if it is still there.

Well, I have been studying my booty off for a big final tomorrow, but I had to work this weekend.  I'm a grad student, so research is my job, and I have become so lucky as to work with horses in my research.  They are wonderful and smart and have taught me so much, including to expect the unexpected.  So when I went to work and the barn manager told me to keep an eye on a pregnant mare because she was looking uncomfortable, I didn't think that would mean we would have a baby within a couple hours!

So I welcomed this little boy into the world on Sunday, right in the middle of the day!  (Usually they wait to have their baby until the middle of the night!)  He wasn't feeling too good at first and actually ended up having to go into the vet with momma later, but he is doing much better and standing and nursing on his own now.  Keep him in your thoughts though, he is still just a baby!

Anyways, I know this is a little out of the norm from my other posts, but I just thought I would share.  I hope to post an update picture about the little guy soon, take care!

I've Missed You All!

Hey guys!  Sorry my posts have been scant lately, but we are getting to the end of the semester and it is definitely crunch time for projects, exams, etc.  I also started up my research project again, which is wonderful that I get to work with my favorite horses again, but it is time consuming!  I think it is going to mean earlier mornings for me again...

Anyways, I did get a chance to hit up an estate sale today, and a few other yard sales and a rummage sale, but I just cannot seem to ever find the good stuff at yard sales!  Here's a collective photo of what I picked up!

An antique suitcase (they had more, but I couldn't afford all of them, so I picked out the coolest one!  Hopefully the others will stick around long enough to go 1/2 off at the estate sale shop!  The thing in the bag is a trinket display of sorts, but I will be painting it and displaying my nail polish in there!  Cool, right?!  There is also a TV tray, I love the retro daisies!  On the tray in the middle is a pair of candle holders that are brass birds (cranes maybe?) standing on turtles!  And of course, Pyrex!  Here's some close ups:

Orange frigies from the daisy set, I love this color!  I don't see it too often online, but I found the largest dish and sold that on ebay pretty quickly, hopefully these will go as fast!

Gooseberry round casserole. This has a beautiful finish, but the handle is a little chipped!  Bummer, but I think it will still sell well!

Oooh, some non-Pyrex that I couldn't pass up!  This is a Fire King square refrigerator dish with such a beautiful etched pattern.  I love it so much that I won't be selling it, I will store some fun goodies in it!  Here's a view of the bottom.  I'm not well versed in Fire King, let me know if you know what this pattern is called!  I would imagine snowflake or something...

Here it is with some gold buttons!

Here's a little better view of the soon to be nail polish display!  I can't wait to show off its transformation!  **I'm still trying to see if I can get the inserts out and maybe put some beautiful paper in as backing!**

I found this fancy horse a while back.  It says "MADE IN BRAZIL" on the bottom.  I love his red eyes, so intense!

I have been very into silk scarves lately, they are so gorgeous!  I haven't come across many Vera scarves lately, but these ones were pretty neat!

This is one of my favorite finds lately.  It is a burlap pinto bean sack with such a cute design on it!  My plans for it?  Well, since my dog conveniently has the name "Scout", I will be making this into a rug for her food and water to go onto.  Don't worry, she's really clean, so it won't get yucky! (Or chewed!)

Since I have been away for such a long time, let me know what you have been up to?  What have been some of your favorite finds lately that you will keep? (like my Fire King dish!)  Thanks for stopping by!!! :)
