Hey all! I had an incredibly busy week and a half and I had to will myself not to hit up the blogs! I worked hard and it paid off! I presented my research and ended up winning first prize for my poster! Here's a couple pictures of my life outside of thrifting:
I even won a little prize money to fund a little thrifting and a little living!
I want to go ahead and thank Cap Creations for featuring my beautiful orange/yellow daisy pyrex finds. Thanks a bunch, sorry for the late thank you though!
So here is some stuff I have picked up recently, just some little things!
A pretty little Avon bottle that came from a rummage sale for $0.10. I love the color!
Taylor & Ng coffee mug. This is in such beautiful condition!
I really don't know what to call this! It is a brass thing that opens up and you can put things in it. What exactly, I don't know! Any ideas are welcome! My first thought was that this looks like it goes outside, although it is a little too obvious and ornate for a hide-a-key. Let me know what you think!
Also some things I have picked up in the past that will be a little part of my reading nook. The chair is such a perfect size for me, little! I really cannot wait to reupholster it, but I do have some road blocks, like not having a sewing machine, that are preventing me from finishing it now! I have been holding back on picking out fabric until I get a sewing machine! I also picked up a tiny little storage ottoman for it recently, pictures of that soon, it will also need some new upholstery!
This brass lamp is really cool, I absolutely love its curvaceous figure!
Well, thanks for reading, and sorry about the absence!
Linking up to remind everyone I am still alive and well!

Congrats on winning. That is so exciting.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what that little box is. It almost looks like it could be an ornate mailbox, but probably too small for that. Guess you get to make it whatever you want.
Hey pretty lady, congrats on your research poster! A great accomplishment and a little money too, can't beat that! I had been wondering where you had been, figured you were busy with school and I was right.
ReplyDeleteI am such a sucker for cool retro vintage chairs. This one is a super vintagey color too. I have a retro green chair that I am waiting to find the perfect fabric (aka cheap and cool) for to reupholster. Just a hint on the sewing machine...You can usually pick a good starter machine up for $80-$90 at JoAnns or Hancock fabrics. I know our thirfting blood tells us to find them at Goodwill and yard sales, but sometimes these need a run to the maintenance guy and that costs a pretty penny with sewing machines, just a heads up!
Yay for winning! Congrats! And you are so welcome for the feature. Thank you for linking up!
ReplyDeleteI had that same Avon bottle when I was younger, my mom may still have it. I'm not too sure about your little brass box but for some reason I'm thinking it might be a match holder. ??? Can't wait to see the redo on the chair.
Congratulations on your win. You found some excellent items to play around with, the little brassy thing looks like a mailbox of sorts, but I'm sure you're going to make good use of it. I'm a new follower. Please drop by when you have a chance.
ReplyDeleteI think that is a mailbox...whatever it is it is cool. Thanks for sharing with my newbie party.
